A Reunion Reimagined!

Winter Weekend Camp

Re-connect with Akeela friends and relive happy camp memories at the Akeela Winter Weekend Camp! We’ll play lots of games, go sledding, take some special trips and much more. There will be several counselors there to facilitate the fun and they’ll be excited to reunite with you, as well! See the “Weekend Schedule” tab for more details. This event is available to all 2017 Akeela and Family Camp campers who are in grade 6 or higher. (Younger campers may attend as “day campers” if their parents are participating in Family Stay & Play)

There is also an option this year for campers to experience the fun of the Winter Weekend as a Day Camper! This is a great way to coordinate with our Family Stay & Play at Cranwell. Day Campers will arrive at the Winter Weekend Camp prior to breakfast on Saturday, January 20th, enjoy a fun packed day of activities with their camp friends, then return to their family at Cranwell after evening activity. Please note, a registration form must be completed for Day Campers.

Location

Winadu Lodge

The Winter Weekend camp will take place at the the Winadu Lodge at Camp Winadu in Pittsfield, MA. This is a large, fully winterized cabin with multiple “dormitory style” sleeping rooms, similar to what you’re used to at Akeela. We’ll also have access to our own dining area, a lounge, and an indoor gymnasium … not to mention a whole beautiful, snowy campus to play on!

Frequently Asked Questions

Who will be supervising the Winter Weekend? You can expect the same standard of care and supervision that you are familiar with at camp. Kevin, Dave and Greg will be leading the reunion and will be your main point of contact. Along with our year-round team will be several of your favorite counselors and senior staff members from camp. Staff will travel to all outings to maintain our supervision ratios on the trips.

How will my child be transported to/from the Winter Weekend? We will charter buses departing from designated Boston and New York area locations. You are also welcome to drop your camper off via car at the Winadu Lodge between 6:00-6:30pm. Regardless of how your camper is arriving at camp, please provide them with dinner before they arrive at the reunion.

Can my child stay for the day, then return home at night? Yes! There is an option this year for campers to be dropped off on Saturday morning and picked up on Saturday night. Please provide your own transportation for day campers, and follow the same guidelines for your child’s medication. Rates for day campers can be found on the “Dates & Fees” tab. For families at the Akeela Family Stay & Play at the Cranwell Resort, Winadu is just a 20 minute drive from the resort.

What do the fees include? All-inclusive program fee covers round-trip transportation from designated Boston and New York area locations (for overnight campers), meals and snacks, and all group outings and activities.

What happens if my child requires medical attention? We will have a nurse on staff who will provide basic medical care. If a trip to the hospital is necessary, we will use the Berkshire Medical Center.

Who will administer medication to my child? The nurse will administer medications to your child as required. Please bring your child’s medication in its original packaging to the reunion or to the bus stop, where a counselor will ensure they are delivered to the nurse at camp.

What kind of bedding do I need to send? The lodge has beds just like we have at camp. Cot or twin size bedding, or a sleeping bag will work perfectly for the weekend.
